Incredible Day

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Well after a miserable 21 miler last Saturday with Austinfit, and a few days of dismall weather, today was the perfect running day. Sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. The temp. when I started out at noon was in the 40’s with no breeze. This was the kind of day a runner lives for. I started off the first mile with some tightness in my hamstring but then hit that once in a while magical groove. Miles 2 thru 8  seemed effortless. I hope we get a day like today for the marathon. Best run I have had in forever. I’ll go for 12 tomorrow. Suppose to be another beautiful day.

It is less then 20 days to the marathon. I am not ready to run the race I want. To do my best I need to drop at least 30 pounds as a first step.  I am thinking seriously about only doing the half and then making a marathon in May my target quality marathon. Yes I could slog my way through another one but I am seriously asking myself what is the point. I’ll decide by the end of the week what to do. Have had some good training days but no good runs over the half marathon distance.Did 8 miles on Sat. and felt great and another 9 on Sunday.I just know that anything past 15 is going to turn into a slow jog/walk.I don’t want that.

Gearing up for the Austin Marathon. This coming Sat. will be my last long trial run before the marathon. I don’t feel ready, but I am hoping for cool weather. My last long run of 30k was in the heat and I didn’t do to welll. See how Sat’s 21 miler goes.
